The Heidelberg Project is an iconic Detroit cultural site that continues to attract visitors from across the globe. On this 40 minute walking tour, a local guide will provide insight into the inspiration and works of artist Tyree Guyton’s project as well as the history of the surrounding McDougall -Hunt neighborhood. Whether you’ve lived in Detroit your whole life or are visiting for the first time, this tour will leave you with a deeper understanding of this impactful public art environment and provide updates on the exciting work ahead.


This tour is in collaboration with Detroit’s Heidelberg Project and will coincide with their public activation from 2-5pm with activities for all ages. We encourage you to come early or stay later to enjoy all of the festivities!

Tour Duration: 40 minutes


Weather Policy:

Tours will occur indefinitely, rain or shine, unless weather prohibits transportation or adversely affects our partners on the date of the tour for the time of the tour. Weather related cancellation or ticket transfer requests will not be approved unless submitted at least 72 hours in advance of the event start time. If a severe weather event causes the tour to be canceled, City Institute will offer to transfer participant tickets to another date or provide a refund.

Parking:

Parking on on Mt. Elliott, Ellery or south side of Elba is recommended (note parking signs). Please be respectful to Heidelberg Project's neighbors and do not park in front of their houses or driveways!. Utilizing public transit along Mt. Elliott, Mac or Gratiot are also convenient options.

Cancellation Policy:

An event can only be canceled by the venue and/or event organizer. If the venue or event organizer cancels an event, you will be refunded within 4 business days of the event date for your purchase.
